A much awaited victory

I have been following Indian cricket for almost 20 years. Most of the time, we have ended up losing - losing badly, losing from winning positions, losing to weather, losing to umpires. There was not much to celebrate if you were an Indian cricket fan.We were lions at home, rats away. Countless times we lost abroad. Some of the most heartbreaking of those losses werea) The match we had the Proteas on the mat at 98-7. Finally lost to the weather and the groundsmen who delayed the dryingb) The loss at Barbados when we had to chase 120 oddAll this has been put behind by the 1-0 victory over the Windies in the Carribean by Rahul David's "devils". Finally India has got a monkey off her back. We have won a Test series outside the sub-continet in 20 looong years. OK..we won a 2-0 series against a Zimbabwe village XI, which can be counted only for the recordsSome of the images from the Sabina Park Test which will linger in my mind are:Sreesanth's inswinger which took Gayle's offstump for a loong walk in the 1st inningsSree's snorter which took Lara by surprise and give catch to the slips ( I have seen Gillespie and Mcgrath bowl similar deliveries to Jayasurya, Lara and Ganguly)Sree's yorker which removed Ganga in the 2nd inningsPatel trapping Lara in front with a beautyKumble bowling Bravo who was looking to slog-sweepHow many times have seen an Indian pace bowler take wickets like these taken by Sreesanth and Munaf. The sheer joy of seeing yorkers and snorters were alien to an Indian fan.Being a mallu, Im proud that a malayali has done something which people can only dream off. We are proud of you SreeHats off to Chappell, Dravid and the boys. Way to Go!!
